BRUMA was born from a deep exploration of Costa Rica’s cloud forests—lush, mysterious, and quietly powerful landscapes where nature unfolds in layers of texture, movement, and light.
For this collection, NEREA collaborated with Costa Rican visual artist and muralist Majo Rodríguez, whose work is deeply rooted in nature and guided by a constant spirit of exploration. Inspired by Costa Rica’s extraordinary biodiversity, Majo immersed herself in the flora of the cloud forest, drawing from elements such as orchids, bromeliads, and native botanical species known for their sculptural beauty and natural elegance.

The creative process began with extensive research—not only into plant species, but also into color palettes and how each tone could translate harmoniously into fabric. Every illustration was carefully studied to understand how it would interact with patterns, silhouettes, and movement.

Through a journey of experimentation, trial and error, and close collaboration, each design evolved organically until it felt right—balanced, elegant, and true to the essence of BRUMA. The illustrations were developed using traditional techniques such as graphite, pen and ink, and acrylic, blending hand-drawn artistry with contemporary adaptation.
These artworks were then carefully translated into textile patterns, allowing the art to move with the body and become part of the garment itself.
